Hey guys, it’s Dave here. Founder and head admin of the… currently defunct The Neocafe. As many of you have heard (thanks to Hale for getting the news to everyone for me), I’ve moved onto other endeavors and new things. Lots of you have listened to one of my new podcasts, WordCast, all about the WordPress online publishing platform, or visited The Podcasting Blog, of which I am the editor-in-chief.

Don’t worry, TNC isn’t going anywhere. You may see some downtime over the next few days as I move the site over to new server, but it will be back online. I’ll be looking for someone to take over the site for me, as I won’t be keeping it up any longer. If you’d like the responsibility and think you can handle it, drop an email to dave@davemoyer.org. I’ll be contacting the other admins about this subject as well. I’ll be sure to hand if off to someone that I can trust to keep TNC as good as it was, and make it even better.

The community won’t be going anywhere, and I don’t want any one of you to leave until you really think you have to. I’ll still be popping in from time to time to say hi to everyone, and those who have added me on MSN messenger and Skype over the years will still be able to chat with me just as before.

As for Neocast, we’ve reached the end of the final chapter of that amazing show. With almost two years online, it was the top Neopets podcast on the web, and it brought life to an absolutely awesome community of people. Some have come and gone, we’ve been through many layouts and setups, and even gave birth to this awesome website. It’s been a long, winding road, but all good things must come to an end. I’ll be releasing a final podcast in the next few days with a personal message to all of you, and I’ll be playing all the voicemails we’ve received since the last published episode.

As for ME, I won’t be disappearing– ha! Far from it! I’ve got many new things on the horizon, including new podcasts like Best of the Net, which will be cohosted by the great Daniel Brusilovsky. As stated previously, I’m hosting and producing WordCast with Kym Huynh and Beth Skinner, and I’m editor-in-chief of The Podcasting Blog. Many, many other new things are on the way, but I can’t let the kadoatie out of the bag just yet ;). My personal website and blog is at http://davemoyer.org and I’ll be appearing across the web in all sorts of other areas.

Thanks to absolutely everyone who’s ever clicked play on an episode of Neocast, or visited The Neocafe. This has been one of the best experiences that anyone could ever dream of having, and I’ll definitely miss all of you. I hope that you’ll all keep in touch, keep your eye out for me elsewhere on the net, and, as always, have fun on Neopets.

Then just sit back, and watch the challenges roll in! You can also just browse the forums and see what games users want a challenge on, and play them! It’s a great community of challenges, over at the TNC Forums!

We’ve now officially added a Topsites to TNC, at topsites.theneocafe.com. It’s been suggested we open one for a long time, and it’s finally become a reality!

Wow, there are a lot of you! Recently, TNC’s been receiving TONS of hits, a lot more than we’ve ever received previously. This is great, and we’re glad we’re helping all these people, but our server is having trouble handling the demand. You may have noticed some odd error messages, and TNC is quite slower to load than usual.

Rest assured, we’re working on the issue now, and we’ll be getting more bandwidth as soon as we can.

Until then, please bear with us as we try to scrape along with the small bandwidth we have with the great amount of visitors we have! This is not a message to stop visiting, but simply to explain anything odd you may have noticed.

UPDATE: Things should be running smoothly now! TNC is hosted on a shared server with other websites, and some sites were having some problems. If you DO notice any problems, please report the error here. Thanks for your understanding and support through this situation!

Tada! You’re looking at the newest, best version of The Neocafe ever! We’ve reorganized the site from the ground up! Here’s what’s new:

• We’ve added tons of content to TNC that was supposed to be added way long ago
• We’ve added the gaming index to the TNC homepage
• We’ve redesigned the news boxes on TNC to make them much nicer, the old ones were just a quick 30 second thing, and they looked REALLY bad.
• We’ve reorganized all the game tips and cheats to consolidate them into single pages for each game. It’s much more organized now!
• We’ve sorted out the topics so things didn’t display twice
• We’ve reorganized EVERYTHING about navigating TNC. Now everything is even easier to find than before! The sidebar now includes links to individual pages you’ll need as well as lists of articles by topic, all sorted into easy to navigate boxes.
• We’ve added back the polls! (finally)
• We’ve added back the useful tools
• We’ve added the extended shoutbox
• We’ve added the Staff Listing
• We’ve added the blog, a behind the scenes look at The Neocafe!

We’ve had to crack down lately on comment spam here at TNC. Because of the Top Commentators box being added, people have been posting ridiculously short messages such as:

“cool.”
“nice.”
or even as ridiculous as, “I can’t think of anything to write.”

Posting comments like this simply to increase your count for the Top Commentators box is NOT ALLOWED, and you will be banned from posting comments if you do this. We’ve already had to ban a few people, and we hope we don’t have to add any more to the list. If you’ve got something to say that is of any value or at least makes sense, feel free to post it! We don’t want to stop all comments, just keep out the spam ones.

NOTE: If you’re one of the people who has been banned, you cannot post for a week at the least, depending on how much you spammed.

You’ll now see a “Top Commentators” box in the sidebar! Here you’ll see the… (drum roll please) top commentators, the four people who have posted the most comments. Updated automatically when anyone posts a comment, it will always show who’s particularly chatty! Why aren’t you up there? Get posting now! Just comment on a news post, or even an article here on TNC. We also welcome you to rate all content on TNC with the star system below every single article.

Just a few changes here on TNC:

• You’ll now notice that I’ve finally created a clean, organized news post format. The old one was just there as a placeholder, and was a real eyesore.
• You’ll no longer find any guides, etc. in the Neopets Game Tips and Neopets Game Cheats topics. That was a small glitch, and they now display only where they should.
• Finally, all our Neopets game cheats and tips have been sorted and organized into single pages for each game! Make sure to send in your tips and cheats, or submit a guide for a free 10,000 NP!
